Jubilee Appeal

Fordingbridge Museum is appealing to the public for items or memories of royal Jubilees in Fordingbridge for a new exhibition to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June this year.

Museum Manager, Jane Ireland said,” Previous Jubilee celebrations in Fordingbridge to commemorate the anniversaries of Queen Elizabeth’s accession to the throne have been marked by the roasting of a whole ox, street parties, illuminations, music events and beacons being lit. Unfortunately, the museum does not have any artefacts relating to these events. There must be many people who attended these celebrations and have photographs or items that they could make available to the museum so that an exhibition could be put together. We would also like to hear from anyone who would be willing to share their recollections of attending or taking part in them.”

Anything made available to the museum would be carefully looked after and returned to the owner. Anyone who can help should ring 01425 654322 or 01425 657850 or email jane@ireland59.f9.co.uk or julian@the4hewitts.plus.com
