Permanent DisplaysThe Life of Augustus JohnThe renowned artist lived and painted in Fordingbridge during the last 31 years of his life. A commemorative statue of the artist stands beside the town's historic river bridge which crosses the Hampshire Avon. 'Victorian' Dolls HouseDonated to the museum in 2004, the Dolls' House was painstakingly restored over a number of years by one of the volunteers at the museum and her late husband. Captain Jack DiamondThe story is told of Captain Jack Diamond, a notorious 18th century tea smuggler, who was captured in Fordingbridge and subsequently executed in Winchester. PianolaA fully operational instrument which visitors are very welcome to play!World War TwoWith special mention of HMS Kingston Chrysolite, a minesweeper adopted by Fordingbridge in 1942, atrefacts from the period are displayed in a recreation of an Air Raid Shelter. |
