Museum Refurbishment

Visitors to Fordingbridge Museum this season will find that the exhibits have been dramatically rearranged and refreshed. The Museum reopens on Tuesday 26th March after a hectic period of work by the volunteers during the closed winter period.

Museum Manager, Jane Ireland said,” We always use the winter, when the museum is closed, to design new exhibits and enhance the other ones. This year we have been able to go over and above what we would usually have done because of help from Avon Valley Shed members. They have skills and expertise that most of our regular volunteers don’t have. This has enabled us to be much more ambitious in our plans. With all the housing development that is going on in Fordingbridge, this is a golden opportunity for new residents and everyone else to visit us to find out about the history and heritage of our town and local villages.”

Steve Curtis from Avon Valley Shed said, “The Shed aims to help those parts of the community that have limited funds achieve their ambitions. Our members come from a wide variety of backgrounds, so we are usually able to find someone with the skills and experience to solve most problems. The Museum is a very important part of Fordingbridge, attracting thousands of visitors each year. It has been very satisfying for our members to work with the museum volunteers to keep the attraction vibrant and exciting.”

Fordingbridge Museum is open from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm every day apart from Sunday.
